“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

By Eloise

Napolean Hill’s success principle videos on YouTube, are all in black and white and his delivery is very… well… of the time and proper. They are a fantastic resource… if you can stop yourself from falling asleep.

So, to bring all of his incredible wisdom and rigorously researched knowledge to life, Soul Sessions Swami Justine Ruszczyk and I have been studying and exploring Napoleon Hill’s success principles so we can share them with the SS community in a way that is fun, accessible and easy to digest.

I’ve listed them all below and on March 23 we are running a live Soul Sessions event in Sydney to honour, celebrate and explore both the brilliance of this work, its relevance today, and also the new science that has now emerged in support of his foundational work… because… it’s entirely possible that there is a missing piece of your dream life puzzle in the mix of Hill’s formula for personal or business success.

NAPOLEAN HILL’S 17 SUCCESS PRINCIPLES

1) Definite of Purpose / Definite Chief Aim

“Definiteness of purpose is the starting point of all achievement,” Napolean says. “Without a definite purpose and a plan, people drift aimlessly through life.” And ain’t that the truth!

If there’s an area of your life that your always feeling a bit ba-humph about ~ perhaps your finances, your health or your relationship (or lack of) ~ ask yourself these two questions:

i) What is my definite chief aim? This is an outcome that is measurable and, once achieved, will confirm to you bend any doubt that you have been successful

ii) What is your plan to make it happen? Do you have one? …readmorehere

2) The power of the Mastermind Alliance

“The Mastermind principle consists of an alliance of two or more minds working in perfect harmony for the attainment of a common definite objective. Success does not come without the cooperation of others,” Napolean says.

This is particularly true for the new paradigm of business. Those who are best able to collaborate and co-create are the one’s who stand to grow the most.

Ask yourself: who would I want in my Mastermind Group Alliance if I could create one today. Who do I want on my dream life team? What caliber of people? Who do you I want around to support me? And who do I want to be supporting?

3) Applied Faith

One of Hill’s most famous quotes is this… “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”

Napolean says faith is a state of mind through which your aims, desires, plans and purposes may be translated into their physical or financial equivalent.

Ask yourself: when I dig down deep, do I truly believe that I can do, be have my definite chief aim? If not, what do I need to do to flip that around as quickly as possible?…readmorehere

4) Going the Extra Mile

Going the extra mile is the action of rendering more and better service than that for which you are presently paid. When you go the extra mile, the Law of Compensation comes into play.

5) A Pleasing Personality

Do people smile genuinely when they see you coming? Are people open and warm during conversation? Or are they looking over your shoulder when you talk? Do they cross the road when they see you approach, even?

Napolean says your personality is the sum total of your mental, spiritual and physical traits and habits that distinguish you from all others. It is the factor that determines whether one is liked or disliked by others.

Ask yourself:

i) What qualities in others make you feel all lovely and warm inside?

ii) What qualities make you want turn away?

How can you best cultivate the good qualities that already exist in you?

6) Personal Initiative

Hill defines personal initiative as the ‘power that inspires the completion of that which one begins’. It is the power that starts all action… and finishes it. No person is free until he learns to do his own thinking and gains the courage to act on his own.

Ask yourself: Am I waiting for someone else to make my dream life happen? What small step can I take today to set the wheels in motion?

7) Positive Mental Attitude

Napolean says that a positive mental attitude is the right mental attitude in all circumstances. Success attracts more success while failure attracts more failure.

Ask yourself: What small or big successes have I experienced lately in life or business?

Focus on them, no matter how small, and own them so you can build on that energy every day.

8) Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is faith in action. It is the intense emotion known as burning desire. It comes from within, although it radiates outwardly in the expression of one’s voice and the emotion that is worn on your face.

Ask yourself: What are the things that really get me fired up and excited?

If these things are attached to your definite chief aim, you’re in a good place to succeed.

9) Self-Discipline

Self-discipline begins with the mastery of thought. If you do not control your thoughts, you cannot control your needs. Self-discipline calls for a balancing of the emotions of your heart with the reasoning faculty of your head.

Ask yourself: what practices, disciplines, tools or strategies do I use to calm my thoughts when they’re noisy, ground my body when it’s flighty and soothe my soul when it’s out of sorts?

Self-mastery is key for success. If you haven’t mastered your different key components of Self, they will master you.

10) Accurate Thinking

The power of thought is the most dangerous or the most beneficial power available to man, depending on how it is used.

Ask yourself: are my daily thoughts supportive of my desired goal or outcome, my definite chief aim?

11) Controlled Attention

Controlled attention leads to mastery in any type of human endeavor, because it enables one to focus the powers of his mind upon the attainment of a definite objective and to keep it so directed at will.

Ask yourself: Do you have a way of tracking your success and failures as you move towards achieving your definite chief aim? Paying clear and ongoing attention to what works and does not is critical for proper course correction and plan improvement.

How will evaluate the efficacy of your current plan for success?

12) Teamwork

Teamwork is harmonious cooperation that is willing, voluntary and free.

Whenever the spirit of teamwork is the dominating influence in business or industry, success is inevitable. Harmonious cooperation is a priceless asset that you can acquire in proportion to your giving.

Ask yourself: Do I have a team around me to support me in my clear goal? Is there a sense of harmonious cooperation? If not, what is it in me that is stopping the team from cooperating in an effortless manner on behalf of my definite chief aim?

13) Adversity & Defeat

Napolean states that individual success usually comes in exact proportion of the scope of the defeat the individual has experienced and mastered. Many so-called failures represent only a temporary defeat that may prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Ask yourself: how has a recent perceived “failure” contributed to my ability to succeed moving forward?

14) Creative Vision

Creative vision is developed by the free and fearless use of one’s imagination. It is not a miraculous quality with which one is gifted or is not gifted at birth.

Ask yourself: How vividly can I see the success of my goal in my reality right now?

The new sciences now confirm how important it is to take the time to see, feel and be in the elevated emotional experience of having your goal achieved and with you in the present. We will explore this further, and all the success principles, on March 23 at Soul Sessions Think, Feel & Grow Rich.

15) Sound Health

Health begins with a sound health consciousness, just as financial success begins with a prosperity consciousness.

Ask yourself: What is my capacity to receive? Do I welcome or push away the good stuff… such as a nice compliment, the good feelings that come from healthy eating and moving, or money offered for my services provided? Or do I push these things away?

Your ability to have good health and good finances is directly in proportion to your ability to receive.

16) Budgeting Time & Money

Time and money are precious resources, and few people striving for success ever believe they possess either one in excess.

Ask yourself: Do I truly value my time? Do I choose to use it wisely in the pursuit of my definite chief aim? Am I able to say no to things that do not serve me? Or do I drop everything the moment someone wants or calls for my attention?

Developing good boundaries around time and money is a very worthy endeavour.

17) Habits

Developing and establishing positive habits leads to peace of mind, health and financial security. You are where you are because of your established habits and thoughts and deeds.

Ask yourself: what habits do I have in place that support my

– peace of mind

– good health

– financial security

Tomorrow, Soul Sessions Swami Justine Ruszczyk will be delivering some of the new scientific discoveries that have emerged in support of Napolean’s early work.

It’s mind blowing stuff and has the potential to help you own Napolean’s success principles so you can know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that what you are working towards will be yours.

When and where will we meet again?
